Cryopyrin associated periodic syndrome (CAPS): familial cold urticaria, Muckle and Wells syndrome and CINCA / NOMID syndrome
The most characteristic signs are:
- Fever attacks sometimes occur spontaneously but more often after exposure to cold (cold air).
- They occur more often at the end of the day and are accompanied by discomfort and intense fatigue. Their duration varies greatly depending on the severity of the disease.
- CAPS patients often have red eyes, small patches on the skin, headaches and pain in the muscles. Deafness can occur, usually after the age of 10 years
