PFAPA (Marshall syndrome)

The main features are:

  • Fever attacks lasting 3 to 5 days (often very high degree with chills and general malaise)
  • Throat pain (related to pharyngitis)
  • Glands (balls under the skin) at the neck
  • Mouth ulcerations (aphthae)
  • Abdominal pain, headaches and leg pain

Crises become very regular over time.
